Join FutureChurch as we welcome Annie Selak and Flora x. Tang for this important and timely conversation.

Many of us love a Church that has also hurt us, or that we've watched hurt others. We often don't know what to do with that pain or how to heal it.

Join FutureChurch for an important conversation with two gifted theologians, Annie Selak, Ph.D. and Flora x. Tang, Ph.D. They will help us name the harm done by the Church to the Church, and then help us think through what comes next.

Dr. Selak's new book, The Wounded Church: Tending to the Harm within Catholicism, argues that the Church must honestly confront its own injuries if it is to credibly be the Church. She offers a powerful image to guide us: the resurrected body of Christ. It is scarred, but no longer bleeding. It is wounded, but transformed. That image gives us a way to grieve honestly without giving up on hope, and to hold accountability and healing together.

This will be a real conversation, not a lecture. We will make room for the many ways people experience harm and you are invited to bring your whole self – and your questions, doubts, and hopes to this discussion.

Come to be challenged, consoled, and accompanied. Together we can begin to imagine a Church whose wounds are honored, whose harms are addressed, and whose future is still being made.
