2026 Keynote Panel

In a time of division, violence and fear, how do we live the Gospel call to love our neighbor? Night One of FutureChurch’s 36th Annual Fall Event brought together a keynote panel of Catholic leaders, each serving in a different role in the Church, to reflect on the question before us all: What is ours to do?

Panelists

  • Angela Howard McParland, Justice Team, Sisters of Mercy of the Americas; co-founder, Nuns Against Gun Violence
  • Bishop John Stowe, OFM Conv., Bishop of Lexington, Kentucky; Bishop-President, Pax Christi USA
  • Gabriel Lara, co-founder, Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership

Moderator: Daryl Grigsby, FutureChurch board member and author of Catholics for the Common Good: An Eternal Offering

The panelists spoke about holy resistance rooted in prayer and community, and about the boldness of women religious. They called people to put their bodies on the line for human dignity, and they explained why our work for justice is woven together: if each of us pulls on one thread, we tug at the whole fabric. They also took questions from the audience on organizing in parishes, encouraging bishops to speak out, and inviting a new generation into the Church’s social mission.
